	King Tides witnessed A huge THANK YOU to everyone who participatedin New South Wales, Tasmania and Queensland in the Witness KingTides project over recent months.   To date we’ve had over 4,000 photos submitted, from Aurukun inFar North Queensland to Bay Bruny Island off the coast of Tasmania- take alook.   Photos of the king tide help paint a local picture of what sealevel rise means and help communities to adapt.   King tides will occur in South Australia, Victoria, northernTasmania, and from south of Exmouth in Western Australia. Register your interest in sharing photos in the Witness KingTide project now.

Green Cross Australia’s head of development Jeremy Mansfieldwill lead a series of property sector seminars across Australia andNew Zealand in March and April. Supported by experts from theinsurance and building services industries, the team will discussthe challenges to the building industry’s ability to deal withclimate related events and why “business as usual” approaches areno longer acceptable.

Green Cross Australia’s submission to the Senate Environment andCommunications Committee Inquiry into Recent Trends in andPreparedness for Extreme Weather Events is a good read. Oursubmission captures five years of work in building Australia’sresilience to severe weather and points to challenges ahead.


	Australia Day Honours We are proud to announce that Green Cross Australia DirectorBruce Esplin, retired Victorian Emergency Services Commissioner,was recognised in the Australia Day 2013 Honours List. Bruce wasawarded Member (AM) in the General Division of the Order ofAustralia for significant service to the emergency managementsector in Victoria. Congratulations Bruce!
