Put all the electronic waste that will be disposed in 2017 into 40-ton trucks, and you’ll fill up enough of them to wrap three-fourths of the way around the Equator. That’s 65.4 million tons of e-waste in just one year.
Electronics aren’t disposable. They’re toxic. Left to rot in landfills, e-waste poisons people and destroys the environment.
Repair is the first line of defense against e-waste. Know what’s inside of stuff before you buy it. Purchase repairable products, upgrade them when you can, fix them when they break, and recycle them when you’re done.
Learn more about why repair benefits the environment, the individual, and the economy at the new iFixit.org. We’ll be releasing more articles soon, so stay tuned!
It’s up to us to stop the tidal wave of electronic trash. Let’s fix the future.
