On a Personal Note
Some many know that I dashed off to the UK for a couple of weeks due to a family emergency. My mother is fighting cancer and she had some complications with her treatment, was in hospital so it was important that I go and be there for her.
After she came out from the hospital, I cooked my best and most nutritious recipes for her, got her eating again and back on track. She’s limited with what supplements she can take, so I concentrated on nutrients from food.
It amazed me how quickly she improved by eating good food. It was a good reminder for me how powerful nutritious food really is. I’m already passionate about eating well, but even I forget sometimes how much of an impact eating well can have.
As my mom continues her treatment, I will encourage my family over there to keep throwing in more vegetables to whatever they are making for her, try to vary the colours that she’s eating daily and get onions and garlic into anything and everything to boost her immune system and keep her strong.
Whether or not you’ve been touched by a similar situation, I feel that the time is now that we sit up and pay attention to the direction of health and make some changes for the better. Investing the time and energy to eat well by feeding good food to our children will pay off in years to come. I know it.
So in the coming year, think twice about buying sugary treats or refined food because the kids are pleading for them. Instead, help them understand why you are saying no and offer them fruit or veggies that will impact their little bodies in a positive way. Now that’s investing in their future.
With that said, I’d like to wish you and your family a very healthy and happy holiday season and the very best for the coming year!
Be well,
Lianne and the Sprout Right team
