Howdy folks, I’d like to give you an update on what has been going on at BuySellAds for the last couple months, and also give you some insight into other happenings around BSA.
We’ve had a nice uptick in sales the last couple months. It started a little earlier than we had experienced in prior years, which means the summer “lull” where we don’t see as many sales may come a little sooner as well. If you didn’t see an uptick in your own sales, that’s a good sign that you need to take some time to analyze your inventory, pricing, and overall strategy.

100,000th BSA Order
I’d like to personally thank each and every one of you for your business and continued support. We hit a HUGE milestone a couple weeks ago as we processed our 100,00th order! It took us 47 months to process the first 50,000 orders, and only 18 months to process the next 50,000 orders. This was a huge milestone, and we believe this clearly shows that BuySellAds is the strongest marketplace on the web for direct ad sales.

New DFP (DoubleClick for Publishers) integration
We completed an overhaul of our old DFP integration, where we automagically connect your sales through the Marketplace to your DFP account. The new integration is much cleaner and inserts a single line item per order you receive at BSA vs. one line item for all orders. We’ve been slowly rolling this out to those who are ready to make the switch. If you’d like to make the switch, please open up a support ticket and let us know.
We’re putting the finishing touches on the AdZerk ad serving integration as well, and I should have news of its completion by the end of July. Of course, none of these integrations are as smooth as just using BuySellAds Pro to serve your ads… but we understand that publishers shouldn’t have to switch to our ad server to take advantage of the Marketplace.

BSA Onesies
|
 |
|
Slightly off-topic but I thought I’d lighten things up letting you all know that we just received a shipment of “Advertise Here” onesies. My wife and I had our first child 8 months ago, and I thought it’s finally time for me to start dressing her in some BSA red: http://bsarocks.com/bsa-onesies.jpg
If you have an infant that fits into either 6-12 month or 12-18 month onesies, send us a postcard with your mailing address and the size you would like, and we’ll send you a BSA onesie!

BuySellAds Publisher Pro is *almost* public
Pro has seen a TON of improvements in the last couple months, and we’re very close to opening up public registration. Pro is a good choice for publishers who only sell 20-30% of their inventory through the Marketplace and need a “mission control” for the other 70-80% of ad sales each month.
We’re helping publishers monetize TONS of unsold inventory via “Unreserved” We launched this service last September to help publishers monetize their unsold inventory. The program has been growing quick, and we’re helping about a thousand of you monetize your unsold inventory right now, serving upwards of 400 million premium (300×250, 728×90, 160×600, etc above the fold) impressions each month. If you don’t have a strategy for monetizing your unsold inventory, you should try this out.

New product: Promoted.com
|

|
We announced our plans for a new advertising platform at http://promoted.com (killer domain name, eh?) a couple weeks ago. I’m super-excited about this project, and I will be sending a separate email about why I’m so excited and what’s in store for BSA and the Promoted.com project. The basic gist of it is… we think Twitter’s “promoted tweets” and Facebook’s “sponsored stories” are great. They exist within a “timeline” that’s constantly updating, and that people check multiple times per day. These advertising programs earns these giant advertising companies billions of dollars each year, but they are very small when compared to the largest timeline of all: the rest of the web… news feeds, blogs, etc. We’re trying to build that THIRD large pillar of timeline based advertising on the web at Promoted.com, for companies who AREN’T Twitter of Facebook, and who don’t have the time or means to build complex advertising infrastructure. Our goal is to bring the app builders and publishers of the world a reliable stream of revenue to tap into, while giving advertisers access to publishers in a way never before possible.
Anyway… I could go on and on, but I will save that for a separate email. Part of our initial distribution strategy is going to be via a WordPress plugin that’s built and working on a few sites right now. If you’re interested in being one of our early publishers for the program, and your site is powered by WordPress, definitely get in touch with me.
